How job search matches engineering roles to your stack
Job Search compares each posting with your resume: languages, frameworks, cloud and database experience, the scale of systems you have worked on, and your years of experience. A posting for a Java Spring Boot backend role ranks high for Arjun, who has three years building Spring microservices, and lower for a React-heavy frontend role.
The maximum experience rule is especially useful for engineers. Set it close to your real experience and postings asking for far more seniority than you have are skipped, which keeps your review queue to roles you can realistically win.
Every application waits for your approval
For each qualifying role, Auto-Apply drafts a resume version that leads with the most relevant projects, a short cover letter and answers to the application questions, using only facts from your resume and profile. You review each draft, edit or reject it, and nothing is sent without your approval.
The Apply Assist browser extension fills the employer's form on pages such as company careers sites, then stops. You check what it entered and click submit yourself. It skips questions on visa status, salary and legal agreements so you answer those directly.
Keywords and job titles to target
Engineering titles differ across companies, so include a few variants. Use the exact technology names from your real experience in your resume, because that is what both matchers and recruiters scan for.
- Titles: Software Engineer, Software Developer, Backend Engineer, Frontend Engineer, Full Stack Developer, SDE 1, SDE 2, Member of Technical Staff.
- Languages and frameworks: Java, Spring Boot, Python, Django, FastAPI, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Go.
- Systems: REST and gRPC APIs, microservices, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Kafka, AWS, Docker, CI/CD.
Tailoring your resume with Resume AI
Resume AI suggests changes per posting, such as moving a payments project above a dashboard project for a fintech role, or surfacing Kafka experience for an event-driven backend role. You accept or reject each change. In your profile, list preferred titles, locations, remote or on-site preference, notice period and links to GitHub or a portfolio so drafts can include them.
Credit usage
Job Search, Auto-Apply and Resume AI use AI credits. Start with 100 free AI credits and no card. Interview Copilot and Job Support hours cost $5 per hour and each includes 200 AI credits, so credits also cover mock interviews when interviews start arriving. Hours and credits never expire.
