What behavioral interviews test
Interviewers use past behaviour to predict future behaviour. Common themes are ownership, handling conflict, working under pressure, influencing without authority, learning from failure and dealing with ambiguity. Each question is usually tied to a competency the team has agreed to score.
Good answers are specific (one situation, not "I usually"), focus on what you did rather than the team, and end with a result, ideally measurable, plus what you learned. Weak answers are vague, too long, or never get to the result.
How live help works
During the interview, the copilot transcribes the question with speaker labels and drafts a STAR answer from your resume and the job description. If Sneha, a product analyst, is asked "tell me about a time you disagreed with a stakeholder", the draft picks a relevant project from her resume and lays out the situation, her task, the actions she took and the result, as short prompts she can glance at.
The drafts are prompts, not scripts. Reading word for word sounds unnatural, so use them to recall the right example and keep your order, then tell the story in your own voice.
The STAR structure, and when to adapt it
STAR keeps answers focused, but adapt it to the question.
- Situation: one or two sentences of context, no more.
- Task: what you were responsible for, specifically.
- Action: most of your answer, in first person, with the decisions you made.
- Result: the outcome, with numbers you can actually back up, and what you learned.
- For failure questions, spend extra time on what you changed afterwards.
- For "how would you" questions, answer the hypothetical, then back it with a real example.
Practise with the Behavioral Coach
The Behavioral Coach uses AI credits to run practice questions, review your answers against STAR and point out where you were vague or missed the result. A good routine is to prepare six to eight stories that cover the common themes, practise each one, and note which story fits which competency.
Mock interviews let you rehearse a full round with follow-up questions, which is where most people discover that their stories need more detail on the action they personally took.
Pricing and responsible use
The free plan includes 5 live Copilot minutes and 100 AI credits with no card.
